Join IMEG as a Building Performance Engineering New Grad in St. Louis, MO, and help advance energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization strategies for large building portfolios. From modern campuses to high-performance facilities, you’ll support energy planning, carbon reduction, and building automation optimization to improve operational performance. Using building analytics, site surveys, and advanced monitoring tools, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to develop data-driven solutions that align with client sustainability goals. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience — with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one.

Principal Responsibilities

Optimize performance of existing and new facilities

Compile and analyze building data on energy use and carbon emissions

Support planning and tracking of energy and carbon metrics

Review building drawings, automation systems, and facility data

Conduct analysis, calculations, site surveys, and data collection

Prepare reports and utility incentive applications

Attend internal and external meetings

Identify and analyze energy efficiency measures

Draft pre-functional checklists and conduct field testing

Prioritize buildings and equipment for monitoring

Manage issues logs and support corrective action planning

Required Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering, or equivalent required

No experience required, internship experience in the building design engineering industry preferred

Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred

Strong verbal and written communication skills including, but not limited to, the ability to listen effectively, and solicit input from others

Strong organizational skills including, but not limited to, the ability to handle multiple demands and assignments, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently, and the ability to manage resource procurement and utilization

Strong interest in the application and research of advanced technology

Ability to fit into our culture of growth, innovation, accountability, and adaptability

Knowledge and implementation experience of national and local energy conservation codes and local laws preferred

Knowledge of local, state and federal tax rebate and incentive programs

Knowledge of energy utilities, and operational and embodied carbon

Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Salary Range $75,000-78,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
