This role offers hands-on experience in hardware prototyping, system testing, and validation within a regulated healthcare technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble electronic and mechanical components of the system, including electrode arrays, signal generation modules, and internal circuitry
- Work with printed circuit boards (PCBs), wiring, connectors, and biomedical-grade materials to ensure proper device functionality
- Perform system-level testing and quality checks to evaluate signal accuracy, stability, and reproducibility
- Validate simulated EEG outputs against defined parameters and troubleshoot hardware issues
- Document testing procedures and results to support internal validation and regulatory readiness
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for device assembly and testing
- Support iterative improvements to device design based on testing outcomes
- Collaborate with technical leadership and participate in regular progress reviews
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with electronics assembly, circuit components, or PCB handling
- Familiarity with basic signal processing concepts or physiological signals (EEG preferred but not required)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to document technical work clearly and systematically
- Preference for candidates from universities in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area
What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience building and testing a real medical device platform
- Exposure to regulated product development (FDA pathway, validation processes)
- Experience working in a fast-paced medtech startup environment
- Mentorship from experienced engineers and company leadership
- Insight into the intersection of hardware, software, and clinical applications
Why This Role Stands Out
This is not a passive internship, you will directly contribute to a working medical device used for training, validation, and product development, gaining experience that is highly relevant for careers in medtech, R&D, and product engineering.
