About the Company

We are a stealth-mode battery startup developing cutting-edge battery technology. Our mission is to revolutionize battery technology to accelerate the global transition to clean energy. By leveraging innovative materials, advanced manufacturing techniques, and next-generation energy storage architectures, we are building the future of sustainable energy.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Process Development Engineering Intern to help create, develop, and scale up manufacturing processes for cutting-edge lithium-ion battery cell production. You will work within a cross-functional engineering team taking new battery designs from proof-of-concept through to high-volume manufacturing.

The ideal candidate takes pride in hands-on work, has a first-principles approach to problem-solving, and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment where you will directly contribute to the factory ramp.

What You’ll Do

  • Process Development & Scaling: Invent, characterize, and optimize battery manufacturing processes (e.g., electrode coating, calendering, assembly, cell assembly, formation, or testing).
  • Hands-on Experimentation: Perform proof-of-concept tests to green-light new materials, methods, and equipment. Build prototypes and run pilot line experiments.
  • Data Analysis: Use data analysis tools (Python, SQL, JMP, Minitab, or Tableau) to analyze process capabilities, establish SPC (Statistical Process Control) limits, and improve yield.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose issues found during cell manufacturing, driving root cause identification and corrective action using structured methods (DMAIC, 5 Whys, 8D).
  • Equipment Commissioning: Assist in the installation, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) of new automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain Manufacturing Instructions (MI), PFMEAs, and Control Plans to define process standards for production teams.

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience in a lab, workshop, or previous manufacturing internship (previous experience with lithium-ion batteries is a major plus).
  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and ability to interpret experimental data.
  • Knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, Catia) or scripting (Python/MATLAB) for process automation.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a desire to work in a high-expectation, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively cross-functionally with quality, production, and design teams.

This role is right for you if you’re excited about

  • Hands-on experience with cutting-edge battery technology.
  • Mentorship from senior process engineers.
  • Fast-tracked professional growth in the EV industry.

Onsite Expectations

Given the hands on nature of the work, this role is expected to be onsite 5 days per week.

Expected compensation

Hourly Rate: $45.00 – $55.00

Hourly rate is based on many factors including (but not limited to): market rate, interview performance, level of experience, and geographic location.

We are an equal opportunity employer and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition, or any other basis protected by law.
