Job Overview
We are looking for a highly capable Engineering Intern to join our business’s production and R&D division. You will be aiding in the design, testing, and researching of elastomer dampers and related products. You will also assist in the design, testing and troubleshooting manufacturing machinery. A successful Engineering Intern will possess practical working knowledge of data acquisition systems (DAQ), experience with PLC systems, and excellent CAD drafting skills. Knowledge of widely used best practices in drafting, including GD&T, are highly desirable. Your verbal and written communication skills should be superb.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have completed Sophomore year in seeking a degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or electrical engineering from ABET accredited university.
- 1-2 years experience with Fusion 360 and/or SolidWorks CAD software (comparable experience considered)
- 1-2 years experience working in industrial manufacturing environments.
- Working Knowledge of DAQ systems such as HBM hardware & CATMAN software.
- Comfortable working under pressure.
- Keen attention to detail, strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
- Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Great communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Superior working knowledge of computers and office software.
Preferred Experience:
- Practical experience implementing LEAN Manufacturing principles.
- Working knowledge of PLCs such as Allen Bradley, Velacio or similar.
- Working knowledge of the calibration and operation of transducers, load cells, displacement transducers, IR and TC Temperature sensors and similar devices.
- General knowledge of industrial processes, especially polymer manufacturing.
- Programming / Database experience.
- Experience working with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Primary responsibilities:
- Plan and implement organizational improvements within company file systems including drawings, legacy product information, databases, and R&D and quality documents.
- Manages improvement programs by evaluating current and future products, and production / testing systems, through applying engineering knowledge and experience.
- Develops and improves product testing methods with the goal of optimizing product quality/performance, delivery time, and cost of manufacture.
- Develops and improves manufacturing processes, applying Lean principles to optimize safety, quality, delivery and cost.
- Troubleshoot and correct electrical / mechanical failures in systems as the need arises.
- Coordinates maintenance and repair services to keep equipment in working order.
