The National Laboratory of the Rockies, formerly known as the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), is the U.S. Department of Energy’s primary national laboratory dedicated to advancing energy systems research and innovation. Located in Golden, Colorado, with additional facilities along the Front Range, the lab focuses on renewable power generation, energy efficiency, grid integration, bioenergy, energy storage, advanced materials, and sustainable transportation. It combines fundamental research with applied technology development to accelerate the transition to cleaner, more efficient energy systems.
